Challenges.....

Challenges…..

Everyday in life we are constantly being challenged. As humans, challenges are how we get better; we get better at our jobs, become smarter in school, we become healthier.

I bet if you asked every person that you come across in a single day, he or she will tell you that there has been a time in their life that they have been afraid to face a challenge that lies ahead.

But how do you overcome that fear?

Mindset!

Our mindset controls how we react and overcome what we are faced in our life. How determined are we to reach a goal, graduate school, get a promotion, lose weight? What is our motivation for getting their? And, what is the pay off in the end?

I have been challenged many times in my life. Here are a few of them and how I overcame them:

1- I was significantly overweight, for a good portion of my life. When I was in my early/mid twenties, I decided enough was enough. I needed to STOP being afraid of the gym and what people thought of me. I needed to take my health into my own hands. I refused to be a twenty-something that need high blood pressure medication and suffered from low self confidence.

2- I was fired for the very first time ever, honestly from a job that I didn’t like, and felt worthless in the corporate world. After some “soul searching” and realizing my true passion (training and helping others) I decided to take the steps to becoming a trainer. I no longer wanted to have my successful be controlled by big corporations.

3- I devised a 24 page business plan to open my own gym,a pipe dream so to speak. While working on that business plan, I became certified trainer and found Self Made. I started my own business. It was very rocking to starting and there’s was a point last year that I almost threw in the towel and quit. I didn’t. I kept pushing myself, building my clients, and building my business.

4- A year and half ago, I picked up completive powerlifting. As a trainer and workout enthusiast, I love challenging myself with new styles for working out. For those who don’t know what powerlifting is, I lifting really heavy weight competitively (squat, bench, and deadlift). It was something completely new and it was HARD! My body hurts on a constant basis, but I love it. Nothing beats getting medals in a competition and knowing that you’re a strong a$$ female.

I’m not going to keep going on and on about myself. The point of those examples are to show that when you are faced with a challenge in life you can’t let fear keep you from doing something great. Answer those questions I gave you. Take a pen and paper, take your phone and type it out, whatever it may be. Remind yourself everyday of how and why your are going to get past that challenge.
